Scott Blankenship

Mr. Estol Scott Blankenship, age 59, passed away, Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Mr. Blankenship was born in Cedartown, Georgia, July 12, 1964, the son of Estol Wayne Blankenship and Jeanette “Marie” Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship enjoyed being outdoors. In his free time, you could find him fishing, riding motorcycles, and shooting guns. He enjoyed grilling out for his family and had a fondness for old cars. Mr. Blankenship was a loving husband to his wife of thirty-eight years, Mrs. Rhonda Preston Blankenship. Above all, Mr. Blankenship loved his family and had a special love for his granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Ledbetter; grandmothers, Rachel Blankenship, and Vernice Martin; grandfather, Bill Preston; nephew, Eric Ledbetter; and niece, Stephanie Ledbetter.

Mr. Blankenship is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Rhonda Preston Blankenship; daughter, Haley Carney and her husband, Jeremy; son, Christian “Bubba” Blankenship”; and granddaughters, Madison “Madi” Carney, and McKinley “Roo” Carney. Additionally, he is survived by brothers: Tim Blankenship and his wife, Rhonda, and Brian Blankenship and his wife, Lisa; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters in law, Connie Millican, Pam Askew, and Melissa Wilkes; and brothers in law, Ray Ledbetter, and Cliff Ledbetter.

Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held, Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Jeff Hulsey and Reverend Corey Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jeremy Carney, Kyle Trout, Jeremy Ledbetter, Tyler Wilkes, Cliff Ledbetter, and Ray Ledbetter. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ron Askew and David Brown.

Mr. Blankenship’s family will receive friends Saturday evening, July 22, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
