Aletha Owens Jarrell

June 24, 1953 — September 3, 2020

Mrs. Aletha Owens Jarrell, age 67 of Lindale, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020.

Aletha was born in Rockmart to the late J.C. “Roy” Owens and the late Mary Lou Brown Owens. Aletha graduated from Rockmart High School in 1971. She loved her Meadow Lakes Ladies Golf Association family life and enjoyed gardening. Aletha had an immense passion for her work at DJ’s Truck Sales and Lankford Motor Company. She was “The Ultimate Protector” who was always giving advice to help lead people through life. She was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Joseph L. Brown and Ida Logan Brown.

Aletha is survived by her husband, Clarence “Dooney” Jarrell, Jr. who she was married to for 49 years; daughter, Bridgett Kirsch (Johnathan); sons: Elex Jarrell (Kelly) and Leonel Cruz (Calli); sister, Brenda Robinson (Donald); brother, Edwin Owens (Yvonne): grandchildren: SarahBeth, Owen, Annie Lou, Rah, Lindy, Brady, Mary Claire, Lexie, Cami, Conner, Annalyse, Gavin and Gabi; The family is expecting the first great grandbaby in October, Piper Leigh; several nieces, nephew and cousins, along with many others who she helped raise and mentor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jarrell will be held Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Carter and Dr. Patrick Latham officiating. Interment will follow at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: TW Dingler, Phil Smith, Allen “Dirty” Combs, Tanner Tucker, Greg Mabry and Johnny Hardin.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 6, 2020 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at Smith & Miller Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required.

For those who will be unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on the Smith & Miller Facebook page.
