Betty Ann Akins, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
She was born in Rockmart, Georgia on July 11, 1940 a daughter of the late Percy and Myrtice Stillwell. Mrs. Akins was employed at Goodyear & Aragon Mill until she decided to care for her grandchildren. She was a member of Morning View Baptist Church. Mrs. Akins will be remembered as a loving momma, mawmaw, aunt and friend. She was loved by God and her family and always went above and beyond for them. She was very active in her church until her health made her unable to attend. Mrs. Akins is reunited with her husband, Bobby and our Lord and Savior.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert “Bobby” Akins; sister, Lillian Williams; infant brother, Charles Malcolm Stillwell; brother-in-law, Henry Williams and son in law, Steve Wingo.
Survivors include her children: Cindy Mallett, Lynn Wingo, Robbie (Judy) Akins and Lisa (Jeff) Hulsey; grandchildren: Jeremy (Amanda) Mallett, Brandon (Dana) Wingo, Amy (Brent) Wingo Meeks, Miranda (Jake) Thompson, Samantha (Derek) Mann and Faith (Mark) Harris; great grandchildren: Ashleigh, Lindsey and Parker Mallett, Sarah and Gracie Mae Wingo, Taylor and Bailey Chandler, Brayden Wingo, Emerson and Easton Thompson, Cason, Ethan and Gavin Mann, Cheyanne Poston, Jordan, Austin and Sawyer Graham; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey, Rev. Barry Snapp and Rev. Danny Tucker officiating. A eulogy will be given by Jeremy Mallett. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Jeremy Mallett, Brandon Wingo, Derek Mann, Cason Mann, Ethan Mann and Brent Meeks. Honorary pallbearers will include: Braydon Wingo, Gavin Mann, Easton Thompson, Parker Mallett and Emerson Thompson.
The family will receive friends Friday February 18, 2022 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
