On behalf the family, The Smith & Miller Funeral Home announces the passing of Mr. Carl V. Radford.
Carl V. Radford, 91, of Oologah, Oklahoma (formerly of Cedartown, Georgia) passed suddenly in his home on February 7, 2023.
Carl was born February 26, 1931, in Merkoot, Missouri to Charles and Minnie (Pyatt) Radford.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served to full retirement after 20 years.
He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cedartown, Georgia, and formerly served as a deacon. Carl enjoyed fishing and making lifelong memories with his grandchildren and Volkswagens. He had a passion for Volkswagens and was affectionately known to his community as “The Volkswagen Man".
Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Radford, son, Stan Radford; brothers, Kenneth, Gilbert, and Bill Radford; granddaughter, Miranda Morris;ngreat-great grandson, Bo Paris; and daughter-in-law Cynthia Radford.
Carl is survived by his two children, Charles Radford of Rome, Georgia and Lee Ann George (Jeff) of Oologah, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ruth Ann Parker of Salem, Missouri, and Norma Chandler of Bixby, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Radford, Stephanie Radford, Jennifer (Chip) Garrett, and Mariah (Nick) Townsend; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a loving extended family.
To celebrate his life, Mr. Radford's family will receive friends on March 26, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 20 Oak Grove Road, Cedartown, GA 30125.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
