Christopher "Chris" Daniel Dempsey

Mr. Christopher "Chris" Daniel Dempsey, age 53, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Mr. Dempsey was born April 27, 1970, in Rome, Georgia, a son of Micky Dempsey, Sr. and Frances Dempsey. 

Mr. Dempsey was known for his love for others; he never met a stranger. In his free time, he enjoyed looking for scrap metal. He loved his grandchildren and spent time with them whenever he could. He was known as a "family man" and found his greatest joy in taking care of the ones he loved. He leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity and his presence will be deeply  missed. 

Mr. Dempsey was preceded in death by his son, Justin Christopher Dempsey; and grandson, Christopher Dewayne Barnes. 

Mr. Dempsey is survived by his loving wife of thirty three years, Mrs. Betty Jo Dempsey; parents, Micky Dempsey, Sr. and Frances Dempsey; daughters, Leann Dempsey, Kimberly Barnes and her husband, John, and Julie Dempsey; and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, DJ, Kain, Zoey, Weston, Logan, and Madison. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Jamie Dempsey, Scotty Dempsey, Brian Dempsey, Adam Dempsey, and Micky Dempsey, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Monday, February 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Mr. Scotty Presley officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Scotty Dempsey, John Minter, Bill Jones, John Barnes, Daniel Dempsey, Cody Minter, Bo Minter, Tyler Jones, Christopher Jones, Guy Hunt, and Justice Sisson. 

The family will receive friends, also on Monday, at Smith & Miller Funeral Home, from 12:00 Noon until the service hour.
