Dennis "Mike" Mcavoy

Mr. Dennis Michael “Mike” McAvoy, II, age 48, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was born March 18, 1969 in Pensacola, Florida. He was the son of Dennis and Sylvia Landers McAvoy.

Mr. McAvoy was the type that loved the simple things in life. He always put his family first then enjoyed time for himself. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his friends, hunting, shooting guns and riding ATV’s in his spare time.

Mike had spent eighteen and a half years working at Trinity Rails in Cartersville, several years working at Polk County Road Department and was currently employed with Gerdau in Cartersville, GA.

Mike is survived by his mother, Sylvia McAvoy; his loving wife, Rene’e McAvoy to whom he married November 20, 1987; daughter, Tabitha McAvoy and boyfriend Tyler Holliday; grandchildren: KayleeAnn Rene’e Barrett, KenzLeigh Marie McAvoy, Kayden Michael McAvoy Cannings and Kolten William McAvoy Cannings; brother and sister in law, Robert and Sandy Langley; sister and brother in law, Lawana and Lee Gurley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis McAvoy; paternal grandparents, John and Verna McAvoy; maternal grandparents, CJ and Lena Landers; father and mother in law, William and Shirley Vines.

Funeral service for Mr. McAvoy will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Trawick and Rev. Randy Vines officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery with Mr. Ricky Vines officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 6 until 9:00 PM at Smith and Miller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include: Rick Ramey, Shawn Doby, Bruce Lanning, Zack Baker, Eddie Cooper and Daylan Arnold.
