Herschel J. Wright

Herschel J. Wright, age 86, lifelong resident of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 5, 1934 in Polk County, GA to his late parents; JB Wright and Ophelia Wright.

Mr. Wright had retired from General Motors and later went on to own and operate, The Gold Shop for 19 years. He then worked in security with AT&T in Cedartown, GA. Herschel was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and a sister.

Herschel is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Esther Wright, children: Donna Moore (John), Suzanne Middleton (Steve), Tracey Baugh (Greg); grandchildren: Dr. Anna Clifton, Wes Moore, Justin Middleton, Wright Middleton, Jay Baugh and Leigh Kiser; 12 greatgrandchildren; sister, Shirley Wright Redding; sister-in-law, Martha Bowman and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Herschel Wright will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from the Smith & Miller Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Justin Carter and Rev. John Moore officiating. Interment will follow the service at Northview Cemetery with Rev. Danny Tucker and Dr. Bill Heaton officiating the graveside service and Masonic rites will be conducted by the Caledonia Lodge #121 F&M.

Mr. Wright’s loving grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. The Silver Comet Trail "Over the Hill Gang" will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Smith & Miller Funeral Home for a visitation on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 12:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks will be required.

For those that will not be able to attend the service in person, the funeral home will be live streaming the funeral service on the Facebook page of Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
