Retired Master Sergeant John Thomas Miske, age 86, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Frank Miske and the Sophia Sularcz Miske. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and working on Sudoku puzzles. John served 27 years in the United States Marine Corps. In his travels with the Marine Corps, he served in Vietnam for two separate tours. He went on to retire with the Civil Service in Cherry Point, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Johnston.
Survivors include his spouse, Vivian Chandler Miske; son, Mike Kirkpatrick; daughter, Suzanne Hunnicutt (Jeff); brother, Robert Miske (Katie): sister, Carol Dyer (Doug); grandchildren: Owen Kovacich and Clifford Hill; great-grandchildren: DJ Borregine Kovacich and Hayden Hill; special friends: Major Bill and Daphne Sherman along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. John Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites being presented by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, July 18, 2020 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at Smith & Miller Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines will apply. Masks are recommended.
