Ms. Lana Jill Garner Guthrie, age 46 of Cedartown passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
Lana was born June 2, 1975 in Rome, Georgia to Terry and Connie Brown Garner. She was a graduate of Cedartown High School class of 1993. Lana continued her education at Jacksonville State University, where she was a Criminal Justice major and a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota (music sorority for women). She was the Sergeant at Arms, Sword of Honor recipient, and marched in the JSU Marching Southerners. Lana was also in the a cappella choir. She enjoyed being a member of the Zen Mountain biking club and was of the Baptist faith. Lana had previously worked as a juvenile probation officer.
Lana is preceded in death by her mother, Connie Brown; grandparents: Artie and Pauline Brown and John and Audrey Garner.
Survivors include her father, Terry Garner and his wife Janelle; brother, Mark Garner and his wife Wendy; stepdaughter, River Guthrie; nephews: Nathan and Andrew Garner along with several cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Smith & Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Stringer officiating.
