Leon T. Allen

Mr. Leon Timothy Allen, age 76, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024.

Leon was born on January 16, 1948, in Bremen, Georgia, son of the late Josephine Gore Booker and Cleon Allen.

Leon married his best friend on July 15, 1968. Leon and Mickey were happily married for almost 56 years. Leon proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War “Welcome Home Leon”. Leon later became father to two boys, Adam and Cory, who he loved with everything he had. Leon was an avid hunter, fisherman, baseball fan, and a die-hard Alabama fan. His favorite thing was spoiling his five grandchildren. During his working career as a welder, he spent 15 years working with GE Corporation and then finished his working career working for Meggitt in Rockmart. Leon always loved hard and was loved by so many in our community.    

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Kilgore.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mickey Sue Vance Allen; children, Adam Allen and his wife, Tabitha, Cory Allen and his wife, Courtney; grandchildren, Aniston Allen, Aubrey Allen, Ace Allen, Max Allen, and Maverick Allen; brother, Greg Weatherby; sister, Dawn youngblood and her husband, Richard; his long-time best friend, Darrell Mobley. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Blackmon and Mr. Elex Jarrell officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Rockmart Brown-Wright Post 12 American Legion Honor Guard. 

The family will receive friends Monday, June 10, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Beau Ball, Zane Edwards, Max Allen, Ace Allen, Maverick Allen, Tweet Jarrell, Rah Ware, and Brodie Blackmon. Dylan Cupp will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Leon Allen.
