Opal Bevis

Mrs. Opal Bevis, peacefully passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 95. She was residing in Cedartown, GA, where she had made countless memories and touched the lives of those around her.

Opal was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia on June 3, 1928 daughter of the late Murdock Williams and Bessie Hamrick Williams.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Bevis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Durward Bevis, Sr. and her siblings, Lemma Turpine, Racheal Hollis, Celetine Early, Pauline Williams, B.M. Williams, Ray Williams, and Malbert Alford.

While Opal was known for her strong work ethic and her love for gardening, her greatest joy in life came from her role as a mother. She is survived by her loving sons, Lane Bevis and his wife, Peggy, James Bevis and his wife, Lisa, and Thomas Bevis and his wife, Glenda; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grand child; and Brother, Murdock Williams. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

The family and friends will gather Friday, September 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home to honor Mrs. Opal's life.
