Pat Lynn Pruitt Newton

April 4, 1954 — July 29, 2024

Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Lynn Pruitt Newton, age 70, of Cedartown, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024.

Pat was born April 4, 1954, in Cedartown, Georgia, beloved daughter of the late Roy C. "Dealy" Pruitt and Effie Lucille Howell Pruitt.

Pat exemplified what it means to be a Christian by the way she lived her life. She was a faithful member of Young's Grove Baptist Church for over forty years where she served as the church treasurer for twenty years. She and her dear friend, Pam Campbell, made sure that the children who attended the church on Wednesday nights were always fed. Pat was a special kind of person who always tried to see the best in other people. She was forgiving, patient, and intentional in her relationships with others. Pat was sacrificial in opening her home to young people upon every opportunity to do so. She was best described as "selfless", always seeking to put others above herself. Pat loved her family. She was fondly referred to as "Grana" by many. She was a present and nurturing mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her life will leave a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her for years to come.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. Robert "West" Newton; and brothers, Dwain Pruitt, and Don Pruitt.

Pat is survived by her son Robert "Bob" Newton, Jr. and his wife, Mia; daughter, Shelley Newton O'Neal; grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Kailyn Cromer, Anna Beth O'Neal, Caraline O'Neal,, and Adelyn Newton;  and brother, Larry Pruitt. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who were very special to her.

Services to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Young's Grove Baptist Church, at 6:30 PM, with Reverend Blake Dodd, Reverend David Frasier, and Reverend Brady West officiating.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Keith Pruitt, Dee Pruitt, Matt Pruitt, Matt O'Neal, Rodney Dodd, David Frasier, and Wes Bryant.

Pat's family will receive friends also on Thursday evening, at Young's Grove Baptist Church, from 4:00 PM until the service hour.

The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ms. Patricia "Pat" Lynn Pruitt Newton.
