Roy K. Woods, Sr.

Mr. Roy Kenneth Woods, Sr., age 81, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025.

Roy was born May 19, 1943, in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late Charlie I. Woods and Clara Smith Woods.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1969. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Cedartown where he joined in 1973. Roy had a fulfilling career in logistics at RUAN and retired after forty years of service in the industry. Some of his favorite hobbies were cooking meals for those he loved and working in his yard. Roy was a fun-loving person whose life embodied kindness and humility in every way. He was a doting and devoted husband and a caring and loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. His presence will be missed in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by his brothers: Doug Woods, Ray Woods, Jerry Woods, and Frankie Woods.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Carol Pruitt Woods; children: Durand Woods Dean and her husband, Alan, and Ken Woods and his wife, Tanya; dearly loved grandchildren: Steven Dean and his wife, Sage, Colton Woods, Jillian Woods, and Adrienne Woods; great-grandchildren: Mary Ann Dean, and Palmer Dean; sisters: Charlotte Woods Kilgore, and Sandra Woods Goss; nieces and nephews: Jason Ponder, Jarrod Ponder, Hannah Tolbert, Brandon Tolbert, Melissa Chandler, Terry Patterson, Julie Brandon, Chad Woods, Jarod Woods, Jada Brownfield, Ray Woods, Jeremy Woods, Tiffany Ruff, and Jason Ruff; and multiple cousins.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Reverend Wayne Benefield and Reverend Chris Moses officiating. Eulogies will be given by Durand Dean and Ken Woods.

Roy’s family will receive friends also on Wednesday at the church from 2:30 PM until the service hour.

The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers: Alan Dean, Terry Patterson, Jarrod Ponder, Jason Ponder, Jason Ruff, Chad Woods,Rick hall, Jerry Moore, Wayne Beck, and Todd Hice.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to your church or First Baptist Church of Cedartown.
