Wayne was born December 5, 1957, in Columbus, Georgia, son of Jo Ann McCrickard and the late Grady Carl McCrickard.
Wayne spent his childhood years in the Woodstock and Acworth area and all of his adulthood in Cedartown. He was a history buff and an avid fan of antiques, which he collected as a hobby. He also enjoyed photography, hiking and camping, and raising animals. Wayne was a Christian who loved God deeply, and he rarely failed to notice the physical beauty of God's craftsmanship here on earth. Wayne had a long career at HON Industries, having retired after thirty years of employment. Other than God, Wayne loved his family more than anything. He rarely missed an opportunity to be around his only child, Ryan, and there is no doubt that he cherished their time together. In 2022, Wayne was blessed to become a grandpa, and he was truly overjoyed. Though their time was cut short, Wayne and Ariel formed a special bond, and they enjoyed playing and dancing together.
In addition to his father, Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, David McCrickard and Ronald McCrickard.
Wayne is survived by his mother, Jo Ann McCrickard; son, Ryan McCrickard (Keidra); granddaughter, Ariel McCrickard; sister, Cheryll Couch; a niece and multiple nephews.
Funeral services to honor his life will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, at 4:00 PM, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with pastor Mike Barone officiating, and a eulogy given by Ryan McCrickard.
Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends also on Friday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 PM until the funeral hour.
The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Stephen “Wayne” McCrickard.
