Mr. Stevie “Steve” Watkins, age 69, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024.
Steve was born January 30, 1955, son of the late Buster Watkins and Myrtle Robertson Watkins.
Steve was always a hard worker and had the ability to fix anything that was broken. He retired from both Zartic and Suher Manufacturing after many years of working in the maintenance department. In his free time, he always enjoyed riding his motorcycle or racing go-karts. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brothers, John Watkins, Bobby Watkins, and an infant brother, along with his sister, Betty Watkins
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Sheila Welchel Watkins; children, Brian Watkins, Heath Watkins, and Lee Brumbelow; grandchildren, Jordan Watkins, John Watkins, Emma Watkins, Courtney Sims, Cheyanne Hill, Lily Brumbelow, and Addy Brumbelow; great grandchildren, Brielle Hill, Brylee Hill, Waylon Watkins, and Jaylen Watkins; sisters, Pat Robertson, Nancy Smith, and Linda Watkins. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Gary Zimmerman and Doodle Watkins sharing stories to celebrate his life. Interment will follow in Longshore Cemetery on Look Out Mountain, Alabama, County Road 101 in Dekalb County, Alabama.
The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Jordan Watkins, John Watkins, Walt Watkins, Scott Walker, Chris Beeler, and Zack Zimmerman.The family of Mr. Watkins will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
