Ted Eugene Smith

Mr. Ted Eugene Smith, age 83, of Cedartown, passed away, Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Mr. Smith was born September 15, 1940, in Bluffton, Alabama, son of the late Seaborn Smith and Oderine Coley Smith. 

Mr. Smith loved the Lord and enjoyed being an active member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He also had a special place in his heart for Salem Baptist Church in Alabama. He owes many of his fondest childhood memories to his grandparents, who mostly raised him. He loved his horses and was a true cowboy at heart. He especially loved "loafin" around at flea markets, talking to anyone who would talk to him. He was a generous person who would do anything for anyone. Above all, Mr. Smith loved his family and was a devoted and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. James "Bum" Smith and Kate Smith; and sister, Margie Armitage. 

Mr. Smith is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Runette Smith; children: Christa Bishop and her husband, Jerry, and Phil Smith; niece, Donna Thomas and her husband, Tommy; nephew, Darren Armitage and his wife, Kim; special cousin, Sherry Morris; "loafin buddies" and cousins, David Smith, and Danny Smith; and brother, Tex Smith and his wife, Joan. 

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Smith will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Mr. Smith's family would like to extend special thanks to special caregiver, Ginny Hughes, the staff of Cedar Valley Rehab, and Willowbrook Hospice; with special recognition to Missy, Mikayla, and Erika for their attentive care.
