Zora Mae Green

Mrs. Zora Mae Mobbs Green, age 90, of Cedartown, GA, passed away at her residence Monday, June 27, 2022.

Mrs. Green was born on September 27, 1931, to the late Conner L. Mobbs and Annie Mae Gresham Mobbs. She was a graduate of Cave Spring High School. Mrs. Green was a nurse at Polk General Hospital for 25 years, the First Aid nurse at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 10 years and later worked with Redmond Regional Medical Center. She was a lifetime member of Friendship Baptist Church of Cedartown.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah George and Estelle Hopkins, and a brother, Conner Lee Mobbs.

Mrs. Green is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 70 years, John C. Green, Sr., whom she married December 22, 1951; her daughters, Janie Green Carter (Allen), Linda Green Morgan (Randy); her son, John C. Green, Jr.; grandchildren, Johnna Green Owens (Heath), Randall McDowell (Tina), Jason McDowell (Jodie), Michael McDowell, Chris Morgan (Connie), and Carissa Carter Boatner (Eric). Fourteen great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren along with two sisters, Margaret Veneable and Francis Ivie, as well as a number of loving nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Green will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Pastor John Moore and Rev. Brandon Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot of Friendship Baptist Church.

Mrs. Green’s family will receive friends at Smith & Miller Funeral Home Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Tony Mitchell, Tim Mitchell, Heath Owens, Randall Green, Danny “Stacks” Mathis and Freddie Giles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Friendship Baptist Church, P.O. Box 866, Cedartown, GA, 30125.
